Today, April 20th, is my birthday.
The internet says "In terms of world history, it would be hard to compete with April 20 for the title of Worst Day of the Year." I share my birthday with Hitler, Carmen Electra (same year as me so I consider us twins), the Columbine High School shooting, the BP Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploding in the Gulf of Mexico, and the deaths of three of my relatives....and the list goes on. Whoa!
Despite this seeming curse of April 20th, I absolutely LOVE my birthday! And not because of the attention or presents that I receive (or because it's 4-20...LOL). It's because I feel like it's a 2nd New Year and a day of reflection and gratitude. I'm so thankful that my life is filled with such wonderful people - close friends and family that amaze me everyday with their compassion and generosity; that I live in a country with complete freedom where my imagination and motivation are the only barriers, that I have my health and look forward to a long prosperous future. I really take stock in all that I have as well as what I don't.
Mostly I send huge love and gratitude to my Mom on this day; the one that really deserves the credit and celebration for my birth. xoxo Love you.
So to share the love and joy and GRATITUDE & IMAGINATION of my birthday I'm offering you this little painting (digitally). It actually has magical powers, and I've seen them in action.
Just save the picture and set it as a backdrop on your phone and see what happens. OK, I'll tell you what happens, because it happened to me. Whenever I would be in a hurry or was going to do something mindless on my phone, this little painting stopped me in my tracks. It was an instant reminder to slow down, remember to be present, and find something right then to be grateful for. It brought a smile to my face - every. single. time.
And I hope it does the same for you because in this moment and everyday, I am grateful for you.
Sending joy and love,
