Showing love and gratitude can be hard.
We all have special women in our life that we love and are grateful for. But sometimes expressing those feelings can be difficult. It's hard to find the right words and many gifts are just too impersonal.
You need a way to convey just how important she is...something that's unique, just like her; something that will stand the test of time and be carried in her heart forever. Something that makes her think of you and smile.
A commissioned painting is your answer.
A commissioned painting is a fine art piece that's created solely for you and it makes an incredible gift. It will speak right to her heart. It's personal, unique and is a symbol of your love and gratitude. It conveys that message to her over and over again, every time she sees it. It's not like sentiments that are gone the second you speak them, or like cards that end up in a shoebox. Your painting will be one of the most significant gifts you ever give and she'll likely be overwhelmed with emotion.
I paint large, vivid abstract art with acrylics on canvas. They're very layered and complex. They go through an evolution and change greatly along the way to end up at a beautiful place. They really are a representation of a woman's journey.
The Commission Process
There are 5 main steps to my commission process, from the first time we talk to the final delivery of the painting.
1. Discuss Expectations
First we discuss what you're looking for in a painting and the message you're trying to convey. We talk about who it's for, what it's for, budget, timeline, and size. Essentially, we find out if I can provide what you need. If we're a match, then you secure your painting with a deposit and we sign an agreement of expectations.
2. Share your Gratitude
Once we establish the basics, I like to know more about the recipient and why she's being celebrated. This is where I get to know her better through your eyes and can incorporate her energy and your intention into the painting.
- Why is she important to you?
- What does she like to do for fun?
- What are her hobbies?
- What are 3 words that describe her?
- What colours does she like?
- What is your favourite memory of her?
- Tell me a story about her.
3. Painting Begins
Before painting, I review the information you provided about your loved one and take a moment of intention. Then I start painting. I pick colours that call to me at that moment and I don't have any ideas or expectations of what the final piece will look like. I trust and I keep going. I make marks and add layers. Often the painting gets uglier before it becomes beautiful. To see the evolution I take pictures between layers. When I'm happy with it, I call it done.
4. Finishing Touches
When the painting is finished and dry, I paint the edges and seal it with a protective coating. I make a Certificate of Authenticity and prepare an Artist's Diary with images of the various layers and my thoughts and inspiration during the evolution. An image of the final painting is emailed to you for final payment.
5. Delivery & Joy
We arrange for delivery and you can present your beautiful gift to your loved one. The final package includes:
- the professionally packaged original fine art painting
- a Certificate of Authenticity
- an Artist's Diary
- a ton of gratitude from me.
Be prepared for Tears of Joy.
